Privacy Policy
We ask for your details for one reason: so a real person can get back to you about your enquiry. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what happens to it.
Last updated: September 4, 2026. Effective from the same date.
01Who we are
Who we are
Get Virtual Work is a product and service brand of Zealight Innovation Labs Limited, a company registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Zealight Innovation Labs Limited is the legal and operating company behind this website and the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us about anything in this policy:
- Email: hello@getvirtual.work
- Nigerian Head Office: 2, Akin Leigh Close, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria
02What we collect
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, plus the minimum technical data needed to keep the site secure. We do not buy data about you, and we do not track you around the web.
When you complete our enquiry journey (“Get started”) or request a callback, we collect:
- Your full name, and optionally your company name.
- Your email address, and optionally your phone or WhatsApp number.
- Your country, your preferred contact method (email, phone, WhatsApp or video call), and — if you ask for a call — your preferred callback window.
- Your answers to the enquiry questions: the kind of help you need, capabilities and skills, scope and seniority, working arrangement, timeline and urgency, and optional commercial context such as a budget range, your role in the decision, and any procurement or compliance requirements.
- Any free-text notes you add.
- A record of your consent: the exact consent wording you agreed to, its version, the date and time, your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string — kept as evidence that you agreed.
- Basic attribution: the page you arrived on, campaign parameters in the link you clicked (if any), and the referring site.
When you use the simple contact form, we collect your name, email, optional phone number, what your message is about, and the message itself.
Technical and security data. Like almost every website, our server records IP addresses and request details in standard logs, and we use IP-based rate-limiting and spam-filtering records to protect the forms from abuse. These records are kept briefly and used only for security.
Cookies and tracking. By default this site sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party trackers. The only cookie is a functional session cookie used to secure form submissions. If we ever enable analytics, it will be switched on only after you explicitly accept it via a consent banner — declining will be just as easy as accepting, and your choice will be remembered.
03Legal basis
Why we use your information, and the legal basis
| What we do | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry and arrange the callback you requested | You asked us to contact you | Your consent, and steps taken at your request before entering into a contract |
| Match your requirements to the right specialist and prepare for the call | To make the response useful rather than generic | Same as above |
| Send you a confirmation email with your reference number | So you have a record of your enquiry | Same as above |
| Keep the forms secure (rate-limiting, spam filtering, security logs) | To protect the site and your data from abuse | Our legitimate interest in security |
| Keep evidence of your consent | To demonstrate compliance | Legal obligation / legitimate interest |
We do not use your enquiry details for marketing emails. The confirmation email you receive after submitting is transactional — it exists because you asked us to get in touch. We will not add you to a newsletter or nurture sequence without asking you separately.
04Consent
Consent — how it works
- The consent checkbox on our enquiry form is never pre-ticked. You choose to tick it.
- We record which version of the consent wording you saw, and when you agreed, so there is never doubt about what you signed up to.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@getvirtual.work. We will stop contacting you about the enquiry and, if you wish, anonymize your details (see Retention below). Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect anything done lawfully before you withdrew.
05Storage & security
How we store and protect your information
- Your data travels to us over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and is stored in an access-controlled database on our hosting provider’s servers.
- There is no public way to read enquiry data — submissions are write-only from the website, and only authorized team members can view them through an authenticated admin area.
- Access to personal data is limited to the people who need it to respond to you. Sensitive actions on records are logged.
- Database backups are encrypted and rotated on a short cycle, so deleted or anonymized data ages out of backups within about five weeks.
- We never sell your personal data.
06Retention
How long we keep your information
We keep personal data only as long as the conversation it supports:
- Identifiable lead data: kept for 24 months from the last meaningful human contact with you. Automated activity — system notifications, scheduled jobs, logins or other administrative activity — never restarts this period; only a genuine human exchange does.
- After 24 months: your personal identifiers are anonymized. Only defensible, non-identifying lifecycle and aggregate information is retained after that — for example, the kind of help requested or the month an enquiry closed — never anything that can identify you.
- Consent evidence (IP address and browser details recorded with your consent): kept for a maximum of 12 months, after which those identifiers are removed. The record that consent was given, and to which wording, is retained.
- Internal notes our team wrote about an enquiry: deleted 12 months after the enquiry is anonymized.
- Security and spam logs: short-lived — spam-filter records are purged after 30 days and rate-limit records within about 48 hours.
If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we anonymize your record on request rather than waiting for these windows (see Your rights).
07Sharing
Who we share your information with
We share personal data only where it is genuinely needed:
- Within Zealight Innovation Labs Limited — the team members handling your enquiry.
- Service providers that make the website work: our hosting provider (which stores the database and server logs) and our email delivery (used to send you the confirmation and to notify our team). They process data on our behalf, not for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements — if we are required to disclose information by law, a court, or a competent authority.
That’s the full list. We do not share your details with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own marketing.
08International transfers
International transfers
We work with clients in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and other markets. If you contact us from outside Nigeria, your information will be processed in Nigeria and stored on our hosting provider’s servers, which may be located in another country. Wherever your data is processed, it is protected by the same safeguards described in this policy — encrypted transport, restricted access, and the retention limits above — regardless of where you are contacting us from.
09Your rights
Your rights
Wherever you are, we aim to honor the same core rights over your data:
- Access — ask us what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correction — ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion — ask us to delete (anonymize) your enquiry data.
- Objection and restriction — object to a particular use of your data, or ask us to pause processing while a concern is resolved.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, as described above.
To exercise any of these, email hello@getvirtual.work with your enquiry reference number if you have one. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to confirm your identity first — that check protects your data, not slows you down.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Nigeria, that is the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). If you are in the UK or the EU, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
10Children
Children
This website and our services are aimed at businesses and professionals. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, email hello@getvirtual.work and we will remove it.
11Changes
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, note what changed. The consent wording on our forms is versioned, so the terms you agreed to are always the terms we hold you to — not a later edit.
12Contact
